The facts and figures:

We start putting the lights up in September (Being in full time employment means that I only get the occsional evening and most weekends between then and the end of November.

There are about 34,000 lights (we havent counted every last one, but its in that region)

The lights come from various sources, and consist of mains powered, low voltage and several thousand imported from America that run on 110v

Last year, we worked out that there is just under 3 miles of wiring which is made up of over 120 sets of lights - yes, thats over 120 13amp sockets - you can see some of the outlets in the pictures for 2001.

How much is the electric bill? - Well, when all the lights are on, they draw about 30amps. The house lights are on from 3:15pm - 10pm every night, and then in addition, the garden lights are on from 5 - 8pm Saturday and Sunday. The house lights take about 20 amps and the garden takes the othe 10amps, so if you know how much electric costs, you should be able to work it out.
